I decided that the way I wanted to celebrate the New Year around here was to talk about new stuff that was better than the old stuff. Since this is a movie blog, naturally I meant remakes, or re-imaginings if you will. It got to a bit of a rocky start, but some of my blogging buddies have come through and joined the party. Below are links to every post submitted for the In with the New Blogathon.
Cody and Priscilla at Life Between Frames shake their tail-feathers a little more for 2007's Hairspray than for the John Waters original.
Brittani at Rambling Film gave us three horror flicks that scare the pants off their predecessors.
Wanderer at Wandering Through the Shelves took on three versions of Jane Eyre.
Modesto Tapia at Poisonous Tongue lets us know why The Last House on the Left got scarier and why the remake of Imitation of Life was no mere, um, imitation.
Andrew at A Fistful of Films gets with David Fincher's version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Ruth and Ted at FlixChatter combined to give us four remakes that outdid the originals.
Last, and probably least, I created two entries of my own. The first praises Scorsese's The Departed while the second finds me giddy over shirtless men thrusting their big swords.
Sure, the deadline has officially passed, but I'm a bit of a pushover. Therefore, if you throw a post together this week and leave the link below, I'll gladly add your banner to this post. By the way, also let me know if you've created a post for this blogathon that I've somehow missed.
